Who am I?
I am a Freelance Photographer and Graphic Designer based in the North East of Ireland. I am a Bachelor of the Arts with a Degree in Creative Multimedia which I received from Dundalk Institute of Technology in 2013. I had a fascination with Photography and Design and the Creative Multimedia Course in Dundalk was ideal to educate me on those subjects.
During my time in the course I not only learned the ins and outs of using a camera, composition, lighting etc, I also learned how to work in a Dark Room environment. I shot photographs on black and white film and processed the film and developed my own prints in the Dark Room. It was a very rewarding experience, and i have to credit that and my tutor Glenn Doyle for influencing me into the Photographer I have become. In regards to design I learned how to create designs from hand, to using programs such as Photoshop,Illustrator and Flash to achieve various results. From Posters to Paper toys, my tutors guided me and taught me the aspects of what makes a good design. For anyone with similar interests as well as many other great subjects, I cannot recommend the Creative Media Program in Dundalk IT enough.
Over the past number of years I have become known for my photography work within the Irish Wrestling Scene. I have photographed events for Wrestling Promotions such as Irish Whip Wrestling (IwW) , Main Stage Wrestling (MSW) , Celtic Championship Wrestling (CCW), the now defunct Dublin Championship Wrestling (DCW) and I am currently the Photographer for Wrestling.ie. Many of my photographs have been used in the advertising of events, promotional material for wrestlers that has been used worldwide, various newspapers in Ireland and Northern Ireland and in Fighting Spirit Magazine, one of the best selling wrestling magazines in the world.
Outside of wrestling photography I have experience shooting music events. I have been the official Photographer for the Belly Bang Music and Arts Charity event in Clonmel Co Tipperary for the last three years and before that I was the official Photographer for a Battle of the Bands competition held in Shercock Co Cavan in 2010 and 2011. The competition was the only one of its kind in Ireland to be officially associated with the Glastonbury Festival in Britain. The winners of the contest won a gig slot at the world famous festival. In 2010 I was brought over to the festival to photograph the winning bands set on the Queenshead Stage. I also have experience shooting various other events and studio portraits.
During my time working on the Battle of the Bands I also designed posters to advertise events for the hosting pub. More recently I have had the opportunity to design some posters for the charity group Lupus Group Ireland. I designed three posters for their nationwide Lupus Awareness Month in October of 2013 and in 2014 a promotional poster. I also designed the cover art for a book by journalist Glenn Dowd entitled 'Living with Lupus'. I have also done some large scale mosaic designs for Monaghan's most popular Hotel, The Hillgrove Hotel.
That is my story so far and I hope to expand on it going into the future...
